I started looking around this morning and I am a little overwhelmed by the number of LED strip options for lighting inside my stand.

What are you using and why would you recommend it?

Do you mean for general visibility? Or to light fuge etc? I'm trying to figure out something for general light as well so I'm following this thread!

If your just looking for general lighting, search 'tap light' on Amazon. There are a ton of options. Some are 4/$5 and battery powered so no concern about having another plug.

I control my lights with a magnetic switch on the cabined door and my Apex. When I open the door the lights come on. I have a fluorescent on one side and an LED strip on the other. If I had it to do over again, or when the fluorescent dies, I will use LEDs on both sides.

The Fluorescent needs to be screwed in to avoid falling into the sump and the LEDs are stuck up with a bit of double sided tape. Ikea has cheap, less than $20, LEDs that come with strips you can wire together. My cabinet has 2 sides separated by a wall so I need something on each side.

My cabinet has 2 separate section so this was better for me
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20119418/ It was easy to stick to the ceiling of the cabinet. And for an extra $10 you can get a set that changes colors if you want to setup a disco under your tank. :)

I like the price! Same questions: besides double sticky tape, are there mounting clips? And, how do you think they will handle the sump area humidity over time?

I think I might have been thinking too 'industrial'. I do want to avoid batteries because I want to control with my apex. And, I was imagining an outdoor rated aluminum unit. But the best price I could find for that is an $80 unit at my local Home Depot. I thought I should be able to find something similar and less pricey online, but so far no luck. Seems like nobody is going that route though ...

I used Even-Glow strips from superbrightled.
I prefer the type that mount with 2 tiny screws, dont have to ever worry about it falling.

I went the IKEA route and have been pleased! I put 3 strip light kits to light the sump and a few of the pucks in my equipment cabinet. One day i will get around to installing door switches to turn them on automatically!

Tempting, multicolor *and* remote control ... How do those attach?

Also, after you've worked with them do you feel the humidity in the sump area will be any issue?
Peel and stick, yeah don't know how they would perform in high humidity, there is no sump under my stand

the ikea lights do have metal mounting shoes and screw in addition to adhesive.
