I have a question to everyone who has been around the hobby for a while. Recently, I have been looking at threads and videos of hobbyist creating aquariums using plywood with pond shield and other products. And to be honest, very inspired to build by own tank at some point, using those methods. I am not so worried though about the building part, like anything, just follow the instructions.
My concern about doing this type of project specifically for a reef tank, is that I have not heard of anyone testing the water to see if any of it has became toxic for the corals or fish. I know that most of us probably have a fear about using ideas from freshwater and then mixing it to saltwater is bad but we are hobbyist that play with the chemicals in the tank to achieve the best outcome for our system.
If nobody has tired this yet, I think the BRS team should have a look into that.
