I have a 48gal corner tank and I am trying to get it reef ready. I found this Amazon.com : All Glass Aquarium AAG29251 Overflow Accessory New Kit : Aquarium Starter Kits : Pet Supplies kit that has pretty good reviews. The height it needs to be for my tank is about 23". The kit says it expands and contracts to fit most tanks up to 30". Just curous if anyone knows of a better kit or another retailer that specilized in overflow kits. I dont want to half *** one of the most important parts.

Or is it easier to just go with a box and drill the top of the tank?

The web address actually has a hyphen.....Glass-Holes.com dope aquarium stuff And yes, Glass-Holes is the way to go. I'd use the 700 kit....assuming your glass is not tempered.

I eneded up going with that exact kit, it will be arriving today, hope i dont shatter my tank.

Hope everything turns our fine.
BTW you could have bought $20 worth of pvc at home depot/lowes and made a HOB overflow and not had to drill the tank

I think this will end up looking cleaner than having pipes run over the top.

Look at the videos at Glass-Holes. Take it slow with no pressure on the drill. Let the bit do the cutting. This is especially true when you get close to breaking through. If you have pressure on the drill, it will splinter the glass. You'll do fine.

Hole is drilled, the video helped and I didn't shatter the tank!
