For anyone who has installed one before did you just leave a gap in the back area of the tank to AIO? since there is silicone on the back wall seal of the tank I can't make it perfectly snug. What did you do about this and how is it working out for you now? I can take pictures of what I am talking about tomorrow and add them to this post.

This is the gap I am talking about.

Mine sits flush in back... I use one for a frag tank. I filled the gaps on the sides with black filter foam strips.

Did you have to lift the AIO off the ground a bit to touch in the back then added silicone? That seems to be what the instructions say.

Yes, there's a gap on the bottom and sides that I filled with the black foam mentioned above. Mine fits snug against the back and under the top rim of the tank trim. I also did this with a 20g long kit.

I cut this stuff into strips to fill the gaps and keep the tank inhabitants from going in the cracks and getting stuck. I lost a six line wrasse prior to doing so.

Hi all.. does anyone have experience modifying this 40gal Fiji drop in AIO and use it an external HOB type sump (attached to the outside of the glass instead of inside)? All HOB sumps I see are just refugiums. I'm thinking this should be doable by attaching an internal overflow box (weir) to the AIO with a bulk head and plumb the return the same way. This is for a 27g nano reef tank I'm setting up and I'm trying to avoid a sump under the tank. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
