Can I use Instant Ocean Red lobster salt in my reef tank? I can't find any specs on this salt. Thanks

Idk if anyone will have info on this salt as it is more focused towards grocery stores, but is it that much cheaper to buy this than a bucket/bag of regular instant ocean? If not then I would just stick to the regular to be safe

Musta missed this one in the ultimate salt test thread ;) just googled it... why would they.. looks like it may be regular io salt?

Edit: "based on" the original formula...interesting

Looks to be just regular IO. It's just packaged in smaller quantities for 1.022 instead of the 1.025 normal 50G bags of IO mixes too. I would use it, just test it.

I believe the old school lobster tanks we used to have in grocery stores were 50G. So it was easy to dump one bag in and have it just as it needs to be without testing anything.

fwiw regular io is formulated to 1.022 as well
Yeah was thinking I really only mix 40ish G. My mixing barrel doesn't empty all the way, so I fill it up, and dump a 50G bag in. Always around 1.025

Got a reply from Marineland. They stated no trace elements.

That was my expectation. I would not use the lobster salt for any purpose related to a reef tank.
