Instant ocean reef crystals

Is there a big difference between regular instant ocean and reef crystals? I,ve been using reef crystals ,but the girl next door has a 160 bucket of regular instant ocean and wants 20.00 for it! should I buy it or pass and continue the reef crystals?

Depends in part if you like the water parameters produced by IO vs Reef Crystals

There is a difference. Reef Crystals should result in higher levels of calcium, magnesium and alk when mixed as directed. If you switch over for a while, you may have to adjust dosing (if you dose.) Also it matters how big your typical water changes are. If they are limited to less than 10% at a time then any dangerous acute change in tank parameters is less likely even when using a very different salt mix. I personally only do 5% water changes, and I envy those with automatic systems.
