Been in hobby awhile never switched salt. Have always used instant ocean . Good reviews on reef fritz. Anyone using it? Any recommendations on switching if it will have any effects. Thanks in advance

I finished my first box of the Fritz Rpm a week ago. Really good stuff.
Mixed to:
1.025 sg
Cal = 440
alk = 8.5 dkh
Mag = 1400

Reef loved it.

Lol,
But... Just went back to regular instant ocean and dose up if needed. Just can't beat the price and I really can't tell one salt mix from the others in my reefs health.

The RPM is a great mix if you like those #'s and is crystal clear and ready to go in 20 min. :)

The only complaints that I've seen on the RPM is that if you mix it up and let it stand over night that it clouds up with precipt. but I always left my mixing pumps on overnight for the next days water change. So I can not confirm if it precipts. if you were to store it.

If I see any decline in my reef from going back to IO (Then I'll be using the RPM from now on) but I'd be really surprised if there's any difference.

If you don't want to dose up, then I highly recommend the RPM. :)

Regards, GoVols

Switched to fritz from RC about 6 months ago and like it. Noticeable improvement in PE in some corals and better coloration in some as well. Price is actually cheaper than RC but a little more than IO (I get it for $50/box).

Where do you get Fritz salt for $50 per box?

Our fritz is the same price as Io to in fresno that's why I switch. I did lose a couple frags from am alk swing switching though. Only did 10g in a 130g

I've seen little evidence to convince me that the brand of the salt mix used makes an important difference to the apparent success of a reef tank. :)

Update:
When this thread started. I was mixing my first batch of regular IO overnight.
I always check the big three every time I open a new box of anybodies brand.

Used 1/2 cup per gallon and these are the results from this batch of IO.
SG= 1.025 (checked with calibrated meter to 35 solution)
Cal = 420 - Salifert
Alk = 8.5 - Red Sea Pro
Mag = 1370 - Salifert

Great #'s and no dosing up required on this batch of IO. :)

I've never had a problem with instant ocean. Just figured I try something else... But why change when it's going good
