Insulationtape and diy macro reactor

I have found a guide on an uk based forum about somebody that created a macro reactor and he wrapped it with insulationtape.

Good idea?

If the leds are external (wrapped directly around the reactor), bad idea.
A lot of folks have probs with reactors cracking from heat.

Honestly don’t see an advantage to insulation otherwise.

My go to is hello kitty ducky tape.

^ A lot of people have had problems with the cheap led strips running hot and melt into the reactor. In a very lengthy thread on here, some people actually got a very big pvc pipe that fit over the reactor and wrapped the lights with their sticky side on the inside of the pvc. It helps block light from creating algae in the sump and the white pvc reflects light back into the reactor.
