Do you all see any reason to put an intake screen on the intake of my return pump in the sump? Or do you see this as not needed?

Someone recommended them but I'm not convinced they're needed, what do you think?

It depends on your sump and what can get to the pump. If you have a refugium and algae can pass over and enter the pump or stuff like that I could see trying to protect it. Most I know have a sponge or filter floss to prevent stuff like that. I have never had any screen to protect my pump and have had multiple bits of algae pass through without issues but I don't know if thats standard or lucky.

I dont run a fuge, so I'm not worried about getting a snail or hermit sucked into my pump. If I did I would have something to protect it.
