Was browsing online and looking for interceptor to have in case of emergencies. Saw that there was a product called sentinel which has the same chemical composition as interceptor. Has anyone ever used this?

Thanks

Haven't used either, but here's the difference:

Both contain Milbemycin oxime (heartworm, roundworm, whipworm and hookworm) and Praziquantel (tapeworm), but the difference is Sentinel also contains Lufenuron (fleas). Once Novartis stopped producing Intercepter, I've heard of folks using Sentinel in it's place. Hopefully some of these people will chime in.

Thanks guys. I read somewhere interceptor was supposed to come back into production. Good to know that if I have an emergency I can just get tablets of sentinal.

The new version is "Interceptor Spectrum" which I ordered from Best Price Pets as you don't need an Rx and they ship from out of the U.S. It arrived in a week no issues. Worked great and was the easiest treatment I've used to date.

I would be very wary of substituting Sentinel for Interceptor since the active ingredients are not the same (as mentioned above).

The active effect might be the same, but the side effects of the added active ingredients might be undesirable.

So unless you find a number of folks who have used it without side effects with the same basic set of creatures you have, it may not be worth the risk, and just waiting for Novartis to make more may be a better plan.

That's probably what I will do. Not in a rush, just was going to keep some in case of any problems in the future.
