I got this from another reefer a few years ago for red bugs, and it is expired, cant find any sources at the moment. I'm trying to figure out how many gallons it will treat. I have a red sea 350, I'm assuming there is 75 gallons of total water volume. I treated my tank at 9pm with 1/4 of the pill, checked earlier on the infested oregon tort and its still covered.

I keep reading that one 23mg tab will treat 400 gallons and some people say 25mg for 10 gallons

1 pill for 51-100lb dogs will treat 380 gal according to dustin dortons original protocol.

Its best to buy a milligram scale, weigh the pill, calculate dose, grind into powder, weigh out dose, vigrously mix powder with some tank water, dose

I generally always double dose. However even at double dose you wont see its affects on tegastes sp. in the tank until the next day in my experience. In 5 hrs or so you will notice the bugs movement is dramatically decreased, then 24hrs later, they will no longer be visible on colonies.
I have used expired inceptor with successful results.
Hope this helps.

I agree you will want a small mg scale. They are cheap and accurate on Amazon - I calibrate mine using US coins.

Using the original formula, you can just divide the weight of the pill by the gallons specified, then multiply that number by your volume. So..

23 mg / 380 = 0.06052632 x 75 = 4.53947368

I would round that up to 5 mg, dissolve in tank water and dose away.

This stuff doesn’t dissolve super easy, so crush it up as much as you can and shake the crap out of it. Once you think you’ve gotten it all dissolved, shake it some more.

I double dosed on mine and didn’t lose my single hermit crab, or any feather dusters, spaghetti worms, etc.. your mileage may vary.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, I checked a few ago and the red bugs are gone. I read recently that red bugs don't lay eggs as previously thought, but I will do 2 more treatments in the next 2 weeks to be sure. I only lost my cleaner shrimp who was in my isolated refugium, I think it was from stress since it was a pain to get him out

Definitely do follow up treatments to be sure you eradicate the buggers.
