I discovered red bugs on a couple of my stags, looks like only treatment is interceptor. I went to my dog's vet and he said he would write me a script but it was no longer manufactured. True enough after a web search of the larch online pet pharmacy said it was unavailable. A couple of folks on RC threads said they stopped making it at the end of last year but started back in February. Does anyone have any further info and any other option for getting rid of these little devils.
Thanks

I tried several online pet med sellers and no one had it, luckily my vet called back and he had 3 sample pills for puppies which were out of date and he gave them to me.Each pill contains 5.75mg of milbermycin oxide so I need to figure out dosage. These are smaller pills than used in the tests.

I was able to get it from my vet after I had explained what was going on. 25.00 for three pills I dosed once and it wiped them out! But unfortunately they are slowly coming back because I did not do the 3 treatments!

Dose it for 24 hours w/ skimmer cup off and carbon/gfo etc out. I've heard it is more about the length then the amount..... and if thats the highest dose you can get, then its about the only shot you've got.

The puppy pill has 1/4 of the active ingredient than the large dog size which treats 380 gal so since I was treating 80 gals I used the whole pill. So far so good, treated for 6 hours and did a large water change and am running carbon right now. I still see a few bugs on my light blue stag but they are not moving, no affect on fish or coral, lost a couple of hermit crabs that was it.I plan to treat again in a week.

My staghorn has them. since Interceptor is no longer available, any other suggestions?

I'm going to call my vet when they open and see if they have any still around, just in case.
