Interceptors Chewable Help

Hello there

So last week I found either red or black bugs on my Acro and I’ve researched that interceptors will help. So I found some on eBay and purchased it. It came in and was the chewable version. I dosed it Friday night and Saturday morning I put carbon in and did a 25 percent water change. Last night(2 days later) I found some more bugs in my Acro. I’m ready to dose again tonight to kill them.

Anyone have experience with the chewable version? Best way to dessolve them? Should I do it again tonight? How much should I dose? I desolved 1/3 of a pill Friday night and I don’t think it did very well. Can I overdose on interceptors?

What size is your tank?

Dosing is usually 25mg per 10gal, you could start with less. After 6hrs do a water change and add carbon.

You should crush the tab and dissolve it completely in a cup of tank water then add to the tank. Note that the pill contains prazi, which is reef safe but like all abx will cause oxygen depletion so make sure to run your power heads towards the surface and also watch for bristle worm die off.

Forgot to post. Total 170 gallons system. 25mg for 10 gallons. So how many pills would I need?

I haven't dealt with red bugs in a while but from Melev sounds like a much smaller dose will do so perhaps try that first.

They chewables are fine, they will make your skimmer go nuts once you decide to end the treatment and turn carbon/skimmer back on and do the water change. I usually let the skimmer go nuts and drain into a 5 gallon bucket to get the interceptor out.

If you have black bugs or red bugs makes a very different dose for interceptor. You have to do 4-5x dose with black bugs and its still not guaranteed to work. They are an absolute nightmare. Ive been talking about it alot lately cus Im treating them at the moment as well. I dissolved mine in RODI overnight. By the morning they were just powder.. not necessarily fully dissolved, but I think the medicine dissolves and the chewable stuff stays behind in larger particles.
