I always thought that Mandarin Dragonet are loner and only get together at dust to spawn then they go their separate ways. I keep several pairs before and nothin I observed change that thought until I have my current pair. This pair really close to each other. They are almost never than a few inches apart during the day (in a 40 gal breeder tank). They always sleep touching each other at night.
I obtained this pair as single. The male from Fishland in Houston and the Female from Petco in Corpus Christi Texas. They have been together for the last 7 months and have spawn regularly. Initially the male bit the female a few time but that have resolved.
I got a flashlight and to picture of the pair tonight. This is the typical sleeping position of my pair.
I don’t remember my previous pairs acting inseparable like this pair.
Anybody else have Mandarin pairs? Are your Mandarin a pair of “fish in love” or casual swingers? Pictures if possible please
