One of my two Benghai Cardinals is exhibiting an interesting behavior.

He seems fascinated by my pulsing xenia and hangs out for hours with his face right at the edge of the xenia.

Anyone else see this behavior?

It kind of looks like he may have a mouth full of fry. I have a mated pair of bengai cardinals, and when they spawn, the male takes an interest in a particular coral. Keep an eye on him, and note if he's eating. If he looks like he is interested in food, but doesn't eat, chances are he's holding fry. As the fry develop, you can actually see them in his mouth and through his gills.

Good eye! Yes, this is the the third time they have mated, but he has not carried the spawn long enough. He has given up at 2 weeks and at 1 week. We'll see how long he goes this time.
