Interesting hitchhiker on my snail

I was wondering if anyone can id these hitchhikers on my snail. Theyve been slowly growing for weeks. A second snail is also now carrying these. I thought feather dusters but the tubs are soft and multiple sprouts. Thanks!

I think they are called mermaids teacups. I believe they are single celled organisms but I could be wrong.
