Alright, so here is the plan.
Construction Questions:
I’ll Build a frame for this, bolt it in the wall, the Mark-up photos shows the idea, it will be secured into the cinderblock, the flat piece will be plywood. Question Seems to me I still want a support where the red line is in my mark up - could I use a pc of PVC from A hardware like I would to say, trim out my windows? Wasn’t sure if the chemical make up was the same or maybe it was treated with something? I guess the alternative would be to cut a 2” or larger piece of pvc pipe, fasten alittle zip tie/hole hook up method and use a pipe as support.
Thought?
Equipment Questions:
Where my Small Sicce pump is going to pump water too - the substrate, it seems I would be better served if I could buy a manifold that the vinyl tube leaving my sicce would hook up too, and then have multiple outlets, say waterline tubing sized, with a small valve on each to control flow.
This way I could specifically trickle to maybe areas, move it around, etc. is this something that I can order somewhere people have seen?
What product would people recommend to line the basket to keep the substrate piled high.
Chemistry question: my drawing isn’t pretty but hompefully the idea is clear...
Any recommendations for how to further optimize this?
The idea is to clear out the entire sump to be empty except equipment. Is this ideal? Or am I better or keep live rock in there?? Seems it will be better for the equipment to be clear down there.
The design is for, outside of the substrate basket in the new fuge, that there wouldn’t be live sand. The rest of the volume would have some rocks for attaching to/growth/bacteria, and then put macro in there.
I’m really tempted to do a few varieties and prune them to keep them separated as best as possible and make it all pretty, but am I dimishing the effectiveness not just putting chaeto in and letting is go bananas? Should I have substrate in the macro portion? Anything else I should do to maximize the affect this has?
