Interesting snail shell formation

Couldn't get a good photo, but on my trochus snail, there is new shell growth, creating both a new ring under the old shell, and also some overlapping patches on the old shell. There is a clam-like object on the shell that pulses, but still has the same texture and color as the snail. Do any of you know what this may be, or what's happening to the snail?
 
Could be any number of things. Vermatid snail, barnacle, bivalve, feather duster, etc. are all options. Going to be hard to pinpoint without a picture, but maybe GIS some of those or take a peek here to see if you spot anything familiar:

I checked the site out, but alas, I couldn't find a match

It isn't really clear in the picture, but along the edge of it there is a frilled edge, kind of like this part of a clam.

Slipper limpets are a little different than most...they attach and live on snails eating algae they come into contact with...but could be a little bivalve as well.
