Found this cool Cowrie one night while watching my tank. Had no idea what he was or that I even had it. Super cool to watch.

A Jellyfish.
Made a thread about the little blue beastie hoping to identify him XD
Looks like a Cassiopea "upside down jelly fish" I see them a lot by our aquarium here in South Africa. Do you use NSW (Natural Sea Water)?

I'd freak out if I see a shiny butt sticking out my live rock

The strangest things I have found in reef aquaria where microorganisms.

Labyrinthula_vergr.DF.jpg

This is most likely a labyrinthulomycete, a colony of spindle shaped protists. Sometimes also other reef aquarists have observed or photographed similar organisms on their aquarium windows. For size comparison see the small copepods in the first image.

These are microscopic images of a strange protist which I cannont relate to anything I know. Very small heliozoa like cells transformed into amoeboid cells with a flagellum and swam away with incredible speed.

If you know anyone who might have an idea ... maybe a protistologist ...

@90's reefer

i tend to look at background details in pics posted as much or more than the focal point of the pic

for you to have that system running long enough to produce that coral from its tiny spec and not have algae whiskers on the rocks, or cyano pockets in the corner of the tank (actually quite clean details) and the rocks are just reef pigment colors like coral and coralline with zero algae dotting around is impressive. You have maintained oligotrophic clean high feed reef water there and corals love it and I can’t see a speck of bad algae. Said in the style of boomhauer: that dang reef might clean man look like dang good reef off the Internet click click click dot good reef

Not something i found, but something I found out, was how long a mouth could be from this snail.

when it was feeding time they came up and I fed them by hand.

was amazing

I have a 3 of these mini sea hares, they don’t seem to multiply, same three have been around for going on 6 months since I noticed them. Only way in was from a small piece of live rock from Tropicorium.

After much research and help from another reefer. This is a scutus that showed up from an alien hitchhiker. Ha ha. Paul B. At least it was not a hammer coral.
