Hi Friends,

So I'm setting up a nano tank - 13L (3.4G) and I bought an internal filter : hailea HL-BT400 flow 380L/H - www. .com/e-hailea/product1/HL-BT400.htm but the problem with this internal filter is the force is too strong. When I touch the water current/waves it seems super strong so I bought a less powerful filter - HL-BT200 http://www.hailea.com/e-hailea/product1/HL-BT200.htm (flow rate 200L/H)

Now the thing is my BT200 filter water flow seems very mild and not that strong. Is it ok to use such normal filters? I'm not planning to keep any complicated corals such as sps corals etc just 1-2 clowns and may be some Zoas thats all.

So for a 13L simple nano setup, which one will be more suitable?

You can view my BT400 flow here I feel like if I use this BT400 my shrimp and other CUC will be circling around like crazy.

Please share your thoughts.

Thanks.

Hello! This type of filter is not well suited for the marine aquarium in my opinion. The internal parts are going to need frequent cleaning and I would suspect that over time the unit will become less powerful. If I were to use one, I would go with the larger model and simply place some rocks where the flow seemed too strong.Additionally you could try to raise the spray bar above the water line to get some nice aeration. Your nano is looking sweet !

Thank you for your input and kind words. Internal part wise there is this one chamber for carbon that's all. I'm not planning to use that because this tank is very small and it's super easy to do water changes weekly. I tried blocking the flow but it's still disturbing the entire tank current. The small filter is working fine but my doubt - is it good enough for 1-2 clown and a shrimp? Or they need more powerful flow of water?

Well to be honest I would not recommended putting a clown fish in a tank that size to begin with. I would would stick with very small inverts and corals.
