Just catching up... If you dosed GC into the QT, then you are doing all you can for him for now.

Yes I did dose GC. Next step is to get him to eat. Hopefully he does soon.

Have you tried soaking his food with garlic?

So I'll be adding half a packet every 2 days for 2 weeks? It's a 5g tank and also can I run some purigen in the back compartment as well?

No purigen in the filter. Just a sponge seeded with bacteria.

You can try adding garlic as humble suggested.. if you are only feeding pellets, then trying frozen mysis might entice him to eat.

Best you can do is to keep trying different foods until you find one he likes. Don't add so much that you pollute the water, but you want to give him options. The thing is, medications can cause a lack of appetite, so this is normal. If you can find something that he will eat even a little of, then he will do fine.

Thanks for the help. I've tried formula one, formula two frozen, new life spectrum pellets, mysis pellets, and now I'm hatching brine shrimp with a hatchery in the tank.

As a routine QT procedure when treating new fish should one treat for internal parasites or just say prozipro and cupramine for example or is GC better to use inplace of prozipro?

I would say GC is better to use than Prazipro because GC also contains metronidazole. However, two doses of metro may not be enough to knock out internal parasites so you still want to keep an eye out for stringy white poop.

I started with nine fish in the QT. I started treating with Chloroquine and GC at the start. They have been in the QT for 28 days of 76days fallow treatment. I do at least a 30% water change once a week. I have six fish remaining in QT and two of them, a Bangaii and Yellow Tang are lethargic and a Cardinal has white stringy poop. Should I hit it again with the GC? Also the water stays cloudy. Is it a bacteria bloom?

As I take another look at the pics it looks like it also have tail rot. Can I add Erythromycin to the mix?

@ltrace Have they been in CP for 28 days now? Also, did you treat with GC 2x, 5-7 days apart? Just want to be sure about those two things before advising you on how to proceed.

They have been CP the entire time. Even during w/c replenish CP. The 2nd dose of the GC came about 14 days in, instead of 5-7. The Cardinal die during the night. The tail looks completely deteriorated away and the Bangaii's tail is starting to look the same way. The Kole Tang have what looks like spots or mucus on it's dorsal fin.

I saw white stringy poop on a new chromis and it died the next day. Intestinal worms seem to be very quick in killing the fish more so than other ailments, do you think this is true humble?

There are many different genera & species of intestinal worms, some more dangerous than others. A few are relatively mild. For example, I know a lady who had a tomato clownfish with stringy white poop for 9 years before she finally soaked his food in metro and it went away. So as with many diseases, hardiness and overall health of the fish also comes into play.

I know I've had several Chromis that have came in with intestinal parasites.

That kole tang doesn't look too good. Can you get a better picture of him? Do you have a broad spectrum antibiotic like kanaplex or furan 2?

+1 I would also start soaking their food with GC (or Metroplex) to deal with the intestinal worms.

Also, go ahead and completely remove all the CP from the water (run carbon for 24 hrs). After 30 days, CP has done its job. What you are dealing with now (bacterial infection, intestinal worms) CP does not treat, so best to just get it out of the way.

Hey @Humblefish is the metronidazole in API'S GC also an ingredient in Metroplex?

Yes, Metronidazole is the same as Metroplex in GC. Kanaplex is the same as kanamycin. Praziquantel is the same as Prazipro. Companies just like to confuse people.
