I was just on e-bay looking at what was available for live rock. I came across an add for fiji totoka. The pic used to represent the rock is a photo from "Jeff's Exotic Fish" from at least 12+ yrs ago that they used to represent their marshall island rock. They have been out of business for a long time. I have also seen other sites use this very same pic for different types of rock. To me this is misrepresentation and a high crime!!! Is it that hard to take a pic of what your selling? Do they think that it is not going to come back to them that what they are selling is nothing like the pic??? I have seen many of the same pics floating around many different sites being called different things. This is a disgrace!!! I wish there was a significant penalty for this!!! Sorry, just venting

I agree with you that there should be some kind of a penalty for misrepresentation

I believe there are laws against false advertisement, especially at the federal level. It takes people to press charges, and that could be viewed as fairly senseless suing for such a small dollar amount. It'd probably be hard to find some vendors, and lawyers to take the case.

And THAT is exactly why we need to support local Lfs and not buy online unless we have no access to any Lfs :). Online is a funny thing especially eBay and you never know what you're gonna get. Support the locals!!!

I have seen more than one Internet Retailer using my photos to sell their livestock. One is even a sponsor here, though I will not name them. Sadly, in the latter case, it was not even a good picture. I would not mind them using my pic, I just wish they would ask.

Yes, that does seem to be a common problem.
There is a sponsor here that has been using pictures that don't belong to them to make money.
They have one of my pictures I posted on zoaid.
