Can’t ever remember seeing a thread on here about this but am I right in assuming that you could remove the internally sump from one of the all in one tanks ??, I’ve got the 94ltr interpet/Kent Marine all in one tank (they go by various names - all same tank though ). As far as I can tell (without emptying tank first) it looks like the tank is basically a curved glass front/sides section , a back section and then the base , then from a quick look it appears that the rear sump section is just siliconed in position. So ............. is there any reason why the sump section just couldn’t be removed ? Just seems like a waste of 25% if the tank space when all I house in it is a skimmer and two tiny return pumps
Thanks

Something to check would be the thickness of the side glass. It may be undersized given that the "sump section" glass is additional support. If that is the case and it is removed, it could severely weaken the sides.

I'd definitely recommend if you attempt this, do it with the tank empty and water test it somewhere you don't mind water, just in case!

Hi ihavecrabs, was thinking that myself , I did have a look yesterday at it and as far as I can see , the sump section is just put into position then sealed with a small line of sealant , the front and sides are one piece as it’s a curved edge design , the front is actually wider than the depth so fingers crossed the glass is plenty strong enough , it also has a plastic trim top and bottom (similar to the fluval Roma tank range) .
I’ll empty it later and let you all know how I get on lol

I know for some AIO folks do these. Most of the users dont, becuase its tideous, and the backchambers are handy to hide media racks, skimmers, heaters etc. Also therer are cheaper sump less tank, so if someone is purchasing new, they can opt for that.
Do you intend to add external overflow in place?
