Hi Everyone,
I have always had fish tank growing up, started with guppys, Angel and Gold fish etc. I stared to dabble in SW in 2008 and set up a 250g in my living room. I learned a lot from my mistakes, but the tank came along pretty good. But in 2011, life got busy and I had to take my tank down. I kept a stored a 29G biocube in my shed and forgot about it.
Fast forward to 2018, I got bit by SW bug. This time I wanted to set the tank up in my office. In the past 7 years this hobby has moved a long way from what it was in 2010. LED's are more affordable, but mushrooms are selling for 1000$, it's crazy.
I wanted a clean look, so I took the lid off and made the tank rimless. I was not able to remove all the silicone, but it is not very noticeable. I used 3, 400W MH in my old tank, but wanted to try LED's for the bio cube. I went with Kessil A360W, I liked the simple look and plug and play set up.For controller, I am using my reefkeeper lite. I did not plan on using a skimmer, but I found a deltec HOB skimmer real cheap and I really like to overfeed my fish. I love the skimmer and very happy with the performance.
I did not like the first try, not enough rocks. I wanted plenty of rocks to attach my corals.
Second try:
Still not enough rocks.
I settled for this one. The tank was cloudy for couple weeks from the sand. I swapped out MJ1200 for the return pump and added Coral Box QP-5. Flow in the tank is amazing, even after ramping the QP-5 way down.
I added some filter media and it cleared the water overnight.
