Hi there everyone.. soooo.. introductions (I hate these).. I'm Heather I'm new to the hobby... sort of. I'm in my 30's now but basically grew up in aquarium stores since my Mom was an aquarist and managed a few local pet stores (fish centric and very nice) in Louisiana when I was a kid. That saltwater smell is the smell of my childhood She stopped doing it professionally when we moved to az but kept up with the hobby for years and still knows her stuff. That being said.. I know basics. I know most of the common fish (mostly saltwater) names, some basics of water quality and such. I also have a somewhat irrational fear of large freshwater tanks.. haha that's besides the point. Right now I don't have any tanks of my own as it's just not in the budget (spend all my money on my two greyhounds)

Anyway.. so I work at a small public aquarium. But I work in the cafe, which is run by a different company and has nothing to do with fish. In theory I would like to transition to working with the fish. So I've been reading up on fish and aquarium maintanence in general but can't seem to find a few things so if anyone has any info they think would be relevant that would be great. Mostly I'm looking for care of stingrays and sharks in a large aquarium.. and basically all the other stuff like fish care,feeding,filtration.. but on a very large scale. I'm sure the size of these tanks changes the game from what normal books talk about for aquariums. For instance what happens for an algae bloom or cloudy water on a 13 ft deep tank that's bigger than my apartment and full of stingrays? Same thing? What filters? Is there any difference or am I over thinking?

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

I know some people here have experience working with massive systems. I'm not one of them so I will say hello and then run in fear! :p

Welcome. If you are still in AZ, particularly Phoenix, there's a great club that meets fairly regularly with quite a few very knowkedgable members, some of which keep some sizable tanks. I would suggest going to a meeting and talking to some folks. They all love to share!
