Greetings. I have not taken the time to introduce myself and I have a few minutes. I started in this hobby 3 years ago and found myself not knowing what to do at the start. I have two coral tanks at my flower shop and I put them in to give people something to look at while I make their arrangements. I really only like softies for the movement in the tanks. I am sure I will someday get bored with them and move to some sps. I test weekly except alk, which I test daily. I dose daily and use ME Coral alk, ca, and mg. I use AI and Kessil lights. I use Reef Octopus skimmers. I use Tropic Marin salt. My tanks are Planet Aquarium tanks. They seem to be made well and I love things made in the USA. My main tank is a 45 gallon cube at the shop. I have a 6 gallon tall tank in the bathroom, and two freshwater cichlid tanks, which I will only mention here. I also have a 65 gallon coral tank at the house. I love this hobby and can't wait to see more unique things. I've always been fascinated with the ocean but never had the time to go. So I reef instead. I would love to share knowledge and grow here and will post when I can. Thanks!!

I was also going to ask what test kits do you use?

I use Salifert. I find them accurate when used properly.

I use red sea for my nitrates phosphates and calcium. Salifert for magnesium and ph and a Hanna checker for my alkalinity. The checker rocks!

I also use a hanna

To be honest not sure, my befriended the LRS and am here in the evenings when I get off work and the weekends. I help out and help test water and help customers and what not. So its technically theirs but I use it daily lol.

Welcome. I too have a 55 gal cichlid tank that's in the throes of aggression right now! My 90 gal reef is just getting started. Any input you have is great to the mass of experience on this forum!

I am currently moving my 55 g to a 90 g and i had to move them to another 55 g first they are there now and then to my new tank. I'm still getting driftwood this week but will post a pic when I go to the shop tomorrow and feed of the new one.

They are great test too.

Ya. I may try the nyos nitrate kit. I heard the Hanna checker phosphate is pretty good too

Its ok but I still like Salifert over it.
I'll have to check out the phosphate kit. My whole thing is color to level. The colors are to close on some of this kits. I like the red sea nitrate kit because if it's at zero it clear past that its super hard to read especially at higher levels
