Hi
I have been using a refractometer and it was not celebrated correctly, so my tank has been running at a salinity of 1.020.

My fish seem to be happy, I just bought 2 new butterflyfish.

Can I introduce them to the lower salinity tank and then over the next few weeks increase the salinity to get it to 1.025, or will they die?

As long as you increase slowly they should be fine. It shouldn't take long at all but there is no reason to rush so sure do it over a week. Going up is Harder on them than going down but over such a long period they will be fine.

If you are running a FOWLR, I would leave it at the lower salinity. It is better for the fish anyways. No reason to run it at 1.025 unless you have inverts/coral/etc.
