Introducing my home 17k gallon reef

Thanks for sharing. I'm feeling so much better about my thrifty, little 600g! ;) I'll point my wife to this thread next time expenses come up in our conversation.
600g, how quaint. :p

And dosing 1-2 ml of 3% H2O2 per 10 gallons every 12 hours for 30 days in a reef environment.

@Humblefish, I’ve read the new threads you linked with interest, but didn’t catch the dosage of 1-2ml INTO A REEF ENVIRONMENT. Whoa. What’s the result of that? Treatment of a sick reef in situ?
Would love to hear more, or point me to the correct point in a discussion if you don’t mind terrible :)

also, nice public aquarium Drew :) you should invite the reef builders bloggers to tour And film it!

How many total tanks do you have?

Do you have a queen angelfish? They are the quintessential reef fish IMO and the first thing I would get if I ever get a tank big enough for one.

Interesting good to know and I like that philosophy.

I love seeing them when I go diving in the Keys. I got this good picture of one last time. As good as my photography skills can do anyway.

Curious about the OP
Any particular technical or educational background that helped you design/keep-up with a tank this size?
DIY anything for the tank (or whatever the 17k equiv of DIY is)?
Are you involved in the aquarium trade in any way?
Do you do anything to offset your cost/maintenance (ie growout tanks, propogation)?
What surprised you the most about going from a 1.4k system to this 17k system?

Sorry to pester but would just love to live vicariously through you for a bit :)

Absolutely no engineer study at all. We hired lots if flow pipe consultants Spent time with joe at aquarium in li. And country critters designed most if it. Its all the same principles but in industrial sizes and applications.
