Hello, I have recently had an ich episode in my tank and lost a couple of my fish, I am now looking into getting a couple of new fish, which i will be placing in a Quarantine tank, my question is will my existing fish in my display tank break out with ich again after the new fish have been introduced into the display tank after spending 3-4 weeks in quarantine?

I've had ich breakouts in my tank twice and then set up a quarantine. I left the display tank fish less for 6 weeks and all as been good. Now I copper every new fish I get even if there is no visual ich. If you do not leave you display tank fishless for 6 weeks it's pointless treating new fish because once they go into ur display they will get ich. So remove your current fish in to quarantine and treat with copper leave the display tank fishless and quarantine every new fish. Hope that helps

So how long do people suggest on leaving the tank fallow for, as I've read many different time scales. And does raising the temp help?

I've left my display tank empty for 6 week (45 days) and I haven't had the problem since & it's been about 6 months.

As said before, 76 days. Other will say I have done it 6weeks and it's ok. I'll say I tried 6 weeks and 4 weeks later I'm letting my tanks go fallow for 80'days. We have 6 qt tanks so room is not a issue. What is the issue is letting the tank go fishless for less them the 70 or so days.

I lost all my fish to an ick breakout. Was fighting it for weeks.... The only living thing in the tank is my 3 dwarf frogs. Should I wait for 8 weeks before putting fish back in??
