Hi I'm hoping to introduce the aquaforest system to my established tank mostly for nutrient control.

My tank stats are:

73 display + 18 sump for 91 gallons or 345 liters
Calcium 430, Alk 7.8, mag 1380
Nitrates 25+, phos .7
Currently dosing vinegar

I want to know:
How much zeomix/phosminus should I start with and how much is the end amount?
How much flow should I put through the reactor?
How much -NP Pro should I be using? Or should I be using Nitra-Phos minus? What's even the difference between the two?

Thanks!

Hello,

Please follow our recommendations:
Zeo Mix - 100ml/27 gal
Phosphate Minus - 25ml-100ml/27 gal

Please, start from 1/2 dose.

Water flow:
Zeo Mix - 300-500 l/h
Phosphate Minus - 400 l/hr

NitraPhos Minus is designed for fast removal of NO3 and PO4.
-NP Pro is designed for keeping NO3 and PO4 low.

Please look at our guide: https://aquaforest.eu/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/AF_Products-Guide_EN_WEB_02.01.19.pdf

1. So if I have high NO3 & PO4, should I use both in conjunction or use NitraPhos Minus first then switch to -NP Pro after it gets low?
2. Do I dose Pro Bio S (at half dose too, I assume) during NitraPhos or only during -NP Pro?
3. When will NitraPhos be available in the US if I should use it? It seems to be out of stock or not available from what I can tell?

1. Yes
2. As you can read on our website: https://aquaforest.eu/en/product/nitraphos-minus/

Good to know:

  • Low nitrate and phosphate impose rich corals supplementation
  • Inefficient filtration may be the reason for high nitrate & phosphate
  • Too much food or supplements may also be the cause of too high nitrate and phosphate levels
  • A violent drop of nitrate and phosphate levels can destroy zooxanthellae and lead to corals death
  • NitraPhos Minus was designed to quickly remove from the high levels of nitrate and phosphate. You can use it together with Pro Bio S. -NP Pro is a nourishment for bacteria and there’s no need to use it while dosing NitraPhos Minus.
