As for the live rock, I will not be at my place for some time. In reading about it, I notice it requires water changes and blowing debris off of the rock. Will I not be able to do any of this if I am gone for a week at time?
What size/type/brand of skimmer do you recommend for my tank?
Dont worry about the LR cleaning stuff. I would rather prefer to cycle the tank with them and then get fair amount of algae, and then introduce CUC. Just spend lots and lots of time in this process... its worth it.

I personally use Aquatic life 115 skimmer, it works for me and I am able to keep some hard to keep acros (like red dragon), but I wont recommend it. If you can, then go with aquamax 1.5 HOB, tunze doc 9004 is also good (just check if it fits well in the back chamber)

And yeah, get rid of the hood. How hot it gets there? deploy a temperature probe (inkbird ) or just a digital thermometer and check temperature fluctuations in first couple of months.

I don't think I can do a hang on the back setup for the skimmer with my tank.

Sorry, what does LR and CUC stand for?
I am not sure how hot it gets. The lights are LED, and there are fans running.
So do you recommend the Aquatic Life or the Tunze? I notice the aquatic one is only up to 30 gallons. I've heard good things about Tunze.
