So I'm one of those guys who QT's anything wet for 10 weeks usually but i just received a very large order of inverts for my reefer 450 from LiveAquaria as i grossly under estimated the amount of CUC i needed in a tank that big and starting to loose the algae battle. I just got off the phone with LiveAquaria and they told me the same thing as blue zoo aquatics, and they store their inverts in a completely separate system of water with a higher salinity than their marine fish, i assume its cheaper to run a lower salinity for their fish but i assume the inverts are not that tolerant of lower salinity? so anyways back to my question, would you still QT for a period of time before adding all these inverts to my DT even thought they have been in a fishes system for who knows how long?

What kind of inverts? Not all can carry parasites.

From LA I probably would QT given my experience last few months.

With the luck I’ve had in the last year no matter where I’ve purchased from I would probably QT.

If we’re talking snails/hermits, those were probably plucked out of the ocean recently and could have tomonts encysted to their shells regardless of the vendor.

The only QT you can truly trust is your own ;) Don't get me wrong, I've had good experiences with LA, but for them it's tap a few keys and you get a refund for lost fish, inverts, corals; for you it could be a total tank tear down, or 76 days of going fallow, or the illness or loss of your fish, inverts, corals. You've got a lot of skin in the game. What's peace of mind worth to you?

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
