Invert QT Tank

Ok setting up a 10 gallon Invert/Coral QT tank. I have live sand and will be seeding it with sponges left in DT sump. I will also be buying 1 piece of live rock.

1. Should i be promoting some sort of algae for these inverts to feed on. I understand they need to be in the QT for 72+ days but also would like to keep them alive long enough so they actually see the DT.

2. Or just feed with algae strips and wafers?

Also does it matter what kind of light i use for inverts? I understand if a coral is placed there i will need something decent, but for right now it will just be for inverts.

I have done everything right so for with QT'ing my fish and when i originally bought my inverts they were in the DT fishless for over 3 months. And the only fish i have in there now went thru 8 weeks of QT (2 rounds of prazipro and 4 weeks of Cupramine)

Just upset because i had 3 turbo snails that have done great with the little algae i have keeping at bay but they are slowly dieing 1 by 1 had 3 now have none. Everything else doing great (2 cleaner shrimp, 4 emeralds crabs, 3 Scarlet hermit crabs, and 3 nassarius snails.

Just feel now that those Turbos are gone the algae will start creeping back and now have to wait 72 days to add more CUC. Wish i could just throw them in but do not want to run that risk.

For snails, you will probably need to offer a steady supply of nori and/or algae wafers for them to eat. The emerald crab & hermits need greens too. For shrimp/crabs (and other carnivores like nassarius), feeding mysis 2x weekly should be enough for them. No light is necessary unless you are keeping corals. Are you sure the scarlet hermits aren't killing your snails? For CUC, I advocate snails or hermits... but not both together.

yes there is no way the hermits are killing the snails. My turbos where like golf ball size and my hermits are very small. I actually still have 2 of them but they are doing what the one that died did. Which is stay in one spot for days. I pick them up and they move so they are still alive but don't move anymore like the one that died a few days ago. also don't stick to anything anymore. Looks like they are following suit.

I usually tie a strip of nori to a frag square and the hermits and snails swarm over it. If it forget to feed them for a while they start eating each other. Try to keep them fed
