Do you really need a inverter generator or you will destroy your equipment?

"Clean" power is nice but I don't think that it is "crucial". You would be surprised how "dirty" the power coming into your residence actually is.

That’s nice to know. I’ve been thinking about upgrading to a inverter generator

@Savo just to be careful in this manner I’m using my generator to charge battery backups. Then run crucial equipment with the BBUs. Generator shouldn’t harm BBUs. It’s electronic components you need to worry about.

I use and have used a regular generator for years, live in south Louisiana and have long power outages every year, haven’t had an issue with equipment, appliances or anything.

That’s a great idea. Btw your thread is one of the main reasons I started reefing

I have not had problems with a 3500 watt standard. Ran my tanks for 4 days. We now have a whole house and I have the electronics plugged into small UPSs

I’ve got an inverter. It’s peace of mind. Power companies put out close to zero THD’s. Inverter generators put out at max 5% THD’s
Regular generators are known to put out upwards of 20% THD’s. In the end it’s really what you’re comfortable with.

@Savo thanks for the comments. Glad you enjoy the thread. I enjoy your Reefer 250 thread. Do you still have the RS 250?
I got rid of it 8 months ago and upgraded to a larger tank. Now I kind of wish I would of kept it and never went larger.
