@motortrendz Don't you think the 0 nitrate is because his algae is eating it?

Also not relevant to your current issue but ditch the hydrometer and get a proper refractometer even a cheap one from amazon with calibration fluid, will save you salinity issues in the future.

I'd say go easy and simple again, weekly water changes, scrub the rocks, get some CUC as suggested by others and make sure your RODI is 0 TDS (ask your LFS to test it for you if you don't have a TDS meter). Overall you're on good tracks, you'll find good advice here and you're willing to listen so patience is key!
The reality of how much nitrates are consumed by the algae I would think is minimal. But would still show something on a test. But they could be being fed my other things, but I think the white spectrum has alot to do with it.

TDS total dissolved solids... a measurement we take at our rodi units to ensure the filters are running optimally, running 0 tds out of the unit is what you want to see. Anything else would mean dissolved solids are being put into your tank and your filters need to be replaced.

Ok thanks. I know I have asked this about three times but what kind of sea hare should I get and should I get an urchin?

Honestly dont have an answer for that. I never asked what type it was when I got mine(it was years ago) and it wound up dying a few months later. And urchin woudnt hurt. Hopfully someone with more experience can help with these questions.

Ok I've been doing some research I think dolabella sea hare is the right one but I'm not entirely sure. My LFS has some yellow ones but I'm pretty sure those aren't the right ones.

Yay I cleaned yesterday.

I have a question for all of you. So my light fell in the tank and it stopped working. I am going to see if it will work again. Right now me and my sister are sharing a light. If we cant get the light to work then I want to know which one I should get. I want one that is preferably under 300$, will do a sunrise sun set, and will help with this algae problem. I was looking at some T-5's and a different LED, than the one I have, with more blues. What should I do?
