My question is how many hermit crabs, snails, crabs, shrimp should i have in a red sea 170 max and what kinds. Thanks guys

+1 on reefcleaners
I get dwarf ceriths, nerites, nassarius, and florida ceriths from there. I don’t like crabs bc they eat snails when they don’t have anything to eat.

How old is you tank? If its post cycle, I would get 1 snail per 10 gallons. If its mature, get however many you feel like you tank needs (not too much or else they’ll die of starvation).

Also, do you have any specific algae problems?

I recommend basing the numbers on your needs (algae/diatoms) and the amount not the tank size.

When people go big on CUC, they (some/many) tend to starve which leads to ammonia and other nutrients increase which fuels more algae. Start small and grow the numbers [emoji4]

+1 on this.

It really depends on what kind of algae and how much you're trying to combat... but I'd say go to reefcleaners.org and order a CUC for half your tank size and start there.
