Invitation to Bully My Fish - Barnacle Blenny Appreciation(?) Thread

Personally I think barnacle blennies are cute - in an endearing, hideously strange looking way - but everyone else just seems to see the weird, slightly creepy side. Which, I can’t argue with that. So here’s an open invitation to roast my pet -aliens- fish. And if you have barnacle blennies please share some pictures!

I have panamic and eyebrow barnacle blennies in two different tanks. One of my favorite fish. At feeding time they steal the show. All of my visitors love them.

I’m not sure what the limit is, but they live in colonies, so I assume as long as there’s some kind of balance between males and females you could have several (given your tank has the space and bioload capacity). I have two (assumed) males in a 4g, they fought the first night but have been peaceful since then.

mine absolutely love the barnacles, but I’ve heard of people keeping them without them and they just live in tiny crevices in the rock. But personally I would never keep them without barnacles, it’s so much fun to watch them hide in there and they really seem to enjoy them

No, you do not need barnicles. They will find their own little hidey-hole regardless.

I live on the bay the only barnacles I see are on the bottom of my boat and they cant be used bc of the bottom paint (that's supposed to not let them grow on there) lol

Reef Cleaners sells barnacle clusters pretty cheap. $14 for a large cluster.

I like the panamic the best but they're all cool.
