Hello Everyone.
Been prepping my tank for some coral again, so I have been watching my params more closely to get the Calcium/Alk/Mag in line. For the past year, my tank has only had fish in it, and I have been using Instant Ocean (Not Reef Crystals)........

I was very surprised to see the parameters my new (200gal box) it was mixing to.
SG = 1.025 (Measured with Calibrated refractometer)
Calc = 550 ppm
Alk = 8.9 DKH
Mag = 1700 PPM

All measurements made with Salifert test kits, and retested with different Salifert kits to confirm. Each of the salt bags was fully blended individually, and then combined and mixed into one large bucket prior to mixing up any saltwater.
Salt mixed at 75~77deg with 1/3 added 3 times in approx 6 hrs, the water is mixed using a Jebao DCP 8000 DC Pump. and the batch was measured 24hrs after mixing.

Is anyone else seeing these kind of parameters from Instant Ocean???

What are you using to measure salinity and when was it last calibrated.

im using a refractometer...calibrated after I saw the crazy numbers, but it was already in calibration as no change was found in measurement after calibration

also when using the Salifert test kits, I am not overshooting the titration.......Ive used These test kits for years.
