i have had high levels in my reef tank for 3 months. When i did put iodine in I was dosing lugols once a week 5 drops as directed.but I think i over did it and now the levels are still high some soft corals not opening.changed water quite a bit.any other suggestions???

Iodine isn't very stable and if you're not supplementing there's little to no chance you have"high" iodine. So, whatever your problem is with your corals it's not high iodine. Keep in mind that aquarium test kits for iodine are basically useless and their results should not be trusted.

with normal water changes iodine does not need to be dosed and will cause premature molting of shrimp, lobsters and will be detramental to them.

Water changes don't really have much to do with it either... If you feed well you're going to add a good amount of iodine to your tank daily.
