I purchased the Red Sea coral colors pro test kit, and one of the tests is Iodine. It also happens to be the simplest so I used it first to test my tank. I have never dosed Iodine, so I was curious what this test would tell me.
I was shocked to see that the test told me I was about double the Iodine level of natural sea water. The color chart for the test only goes up to 0.09 ppm and I am slightly above that. If I had to guess I'd say my level is 0.12 ppm (maybe a little less, but definitely above 0.09 ppm).
There are 3 things I'd like some help/advice on. The first, is 0.12 ppm of Iodine (I guess total Iodine) a dangerous level? The second is where could the Iodine be coming from? The third, is there any way to lower it besides water changes?
@Randy Holmes-Farley I could really use some help here.
