Iodine, K Fe

What are the more accuriate kits to test for Iron,K and Idonine. i have a new red sea " Reef Colors Pro test kit" but wounder if the 65.99 could be better spent.

I use sailfert but haven't compared it to anything else so I can't really say how accurate it is... I have found a drop a day of lugols "iodine" does wanders for my tank and coloring in Sps so I don't bother testing it any more..hth

I also use Salifert for everything but don't concern myself with testing things other than calcium, magesium and alkalinity. I have kits for about everything including those mentioned but I rely on the amounts provided by my salt mix and regular water changes so do not find the need to test for the minor elements.

Honestly your money would be better spent on things like a good refractometer for testing the salinity, a digital handheld TDS meter or a handheld TDS meter to test the quality of your RO/DI or distilled water you should be using for top off and new salt water. If you don't have one a RO/DI system for around $120 would also be a better choice so you alone have ultimate control of your water quality.

Use Ro/Do and a hand heald TDS meter and change the DI resin when it gets above 5-6, is that OK? I just resived my new Milwaukee Refractometer, tired of the hand helds door breaking all the time and having to calibrate every time and getting several diff. readings. Having a Red Algy/Cyno out breake and read where a reefer just blacked the tank out for 3 days and all cyno gone and his crushed coral was white once again he stated, thoughts??
