Hi just got my ICP test and iodine is through the roof. This explains STN that has occured through my few months

All I’m doing is running calcium reactor. How could this be ??

Saltwater is with Instant Ocean. Any input appreciated

How high did it measure?

You aren't dosing anything at all other than a CaRx?

Could be a bad batch of salt. You could mix up a batch and test it out of the box to make sure. Could always double check with a titration as well to make sure it wasn't a mistake at the lab.

Do you have high phosphate too?

P and I have some cross interference by ICP-AES:

"Since ICP emission lines for phosphorus and iodine are very close together at 178 nm i think the iodine result will be an interference caused by the phosphorus concentration."

Yes 2.4 ppm

If phosphate is brought down does iodine too or that is only removed by water change and carbon method

Instant ocean from petsmart

No, it means the high iodine is likely a fake value that you should ignore.

What ? This test is by ATI

How high is your iodine measurement?

ATI uses ICP-OES. That is the same machine type that Christoph (an ICP expert) warns about in the thread I posted. 2.4 ppm phosphate is incredibly high.

I suggest reading that thread, and then contact ATI and see what they say.

I'm assuming you did not overdose iodine that you know of.

I don’t dose at all. Yes I just did a full dose of Tim’s bacteria , after the 110g water change. I will do it again in 3 days and let things settle down
