I decided to give iodine dosing a try. I have heard complaints about every test kit - readings are always way off, the colors on the card are all too similar, etc. Is anyone happy with a test kit they use?

I would get an ICP test first before starting dosing.

Salifert makes and Iodine test, and it is probably the best for home use.

Testing isn't easy on some elements, and the kits do their best based on the cost constraints they are under.

I had the red sea pro one and don't think it gave any sort of correct reading. It said it should take 5-15 minutes at tank temperature and mine always gave the same .06ppm reading after a minute or two at room temperature. So it should have reacted slower not faster. I tossed it... Not to many other options. Years ago I had a Lamotte kit that I thought worked well at the time but don't see it on the market. Have not tried the Salifert.

My frag system is on All For Reef which has trace elements including Iodine.. my DT is on a CaRx so I have the KZ iodine supplement. Every once in a while I add a drop..

Sorry can't be of more help but would love to find a decent kit also!
