I've had a recent slow tank crash and sent off a water sample. My results were all spot on except for a very high iodine level (246 ug/l) and a high Vanadium level (16 ug/l). What the heck could have caused this? And do you think this is enough to explain why all of my acropora STN'd from the base up? My suspicion is it has nothing to do with my tank crash or very little.

I don't know the toxic level of iodine, but I'm curious what you have been adding to the tank? Which additives? The RO/DI water is often a source of trouble too.

I doubt that either of those cased a tank crash.

I don't know why those would be elevated. Aside from supplements, the iodine might be from foods such as a lot of seaweed.

Yeah, I'm wondering if it is because I had just fed the tank or something when I collected my water sample. From what I was reading Iodine doesn't stick around in the tank long so I'm guessing it was a transient spike. I don't really dose much any more other than BRS 2 part and red sea part a and b color program. And I dose those very lightly (well under the recommended dosing).

Red Sea colors A is Iodine, Bromine and Fluorine, if you are dosing that Color A that's why.
Red Sea colors B is Potassium and Boron.
