So I've always wanted to do document my aquarium builds and progress through video and pictures. But I have never truly figured out how to use my iPhone for these purpose, blue light murders the everything.
Any tips and tricks I can do?

I have seen some say to use an orange filter over the front of the lens. I have also seen others say to use a yellow lens. You could simply adjust white balance in post processing. I also typically use my iPhone for my documentation... including 4k video. Here's a recent iPhone shot... this is unedited actually. It still has a little too much blue, but it's not over the top compared to what my tank actually looks like.

Are you using LED's? Adjust to a white spectrum/turn off the blues. That usually works. But, +1 on the gel filters. You just have to find the right color depending on the spectrum.

I'm currently running LED's. I see so many people taking amazing pictures without the washout of blue; I was just curious as to their tricks :)
I'll take a look into gel filters

Go to a Office Supply store look and note book dividers buy the yellow plastic ones. Take home and cut out a square piece of the divider to cover the iphone lens. Now get two rubber bands, positioning the yellow plastic over your lens secure with the two rubber band. Now go take pictures.

I use this one O*K**Y lens... never fails to take good phone pics...

My iphone 6 plus never took great pics although the orange filter helped. I now have an samsung s7 edge and it has enough filters/ adjustments , i don't need the orange filter. Focus seems better too. Even my camera was hit or miss. Try the orange filters and cease water movement , maybe that would help a lot.

All of my photos and videos are taken with the iPhone 6. Sometimes with a gel filter. All of my YouTube videos are shot with my iPhone, edited on my phone and uploaded from my phone. Amazing how powerful these devices are these days!

I tried using some regular ol' polarized sunglasses over the iPhone camera lens and there is a big difference. Just in case you wanted to try something without goin out and finding one of those filters
