Hello, I have a friend who had a bad tank crash due to the hurricane. He has a yellow tang he wants to give me tomorrow ! I want the fish also . Problem is my QT hasn't cycled yet. It sat motionless for 4 days ! It's been up, running for 32 hours now. Just did a trite & trate test. Had both very high readings. I haven't seen both at the same in the past . I will test again & see if I botched the tests in some way . I plan to do a total water change tonight on this 20 long QT. & test again in the morn. Sound like a feasible plan ? I don't want to put this fish in the display yet, Thanks for any OP's .

QT, Brian, treat the tank with vitamin c to help with the stress;)

Water changes will take care of the lack of a cycle :)

No. It won't help with the ammonia spike either but will reduce the nitrates and nitrites and can be done frequently as nitrate export for emergencies. No feeding for few days may help tank settle in some too. Amquil can be considered for ammonia spike.

Make sure you don't dose amquel or prime with any medications - particularly copper.

the tang ate some mysis today. still pretty shy can't really get a good pic. It will hang in view for 10 to 15 seconds.& hide. He looks good to me. No torn fins nice & thick. Eyes are clear no redness around the mouth. Only time will tell !

Glad he's looking good and eating for ya!

What exactly is the procedure to dose a QT with vitamin C? Is this also regularly dosed into a DT as well for immune building?
