I thought I posting this to an iron thread but I put it in my build thread. Not sure where the iron thread is.... Moving it here

My tank tested 0 for iron. Read that you can use the tablets 27 mg that are green.

So I got some iron tablets. they say prenatal health--only ones at 27 mg at walmart. Rest were much higher concentrations. Can these be used? They are pink, not green.
@Randy Holmes-Farley or anyone with experience dosing iron tablets.

You likely can use these, but my recommendation is Fergon tablets. it is a more stable form of iron once in the water and has fewer additional ingredients to think about. In any case, if you want to use what you have, treat them as below.

One Fergon tablet (ferrous gluconate) contains 27 mg of iron. Dissolve that in about 27 mL RO/DI (my recommendation, but other concentrations are OK, just don't dilute too much), the concentration is about 27 mg/27 ml ~ 1 mg/mL. Lets the solids settle and use the clear liquid. Keep it closed from the air when not taking out a sample.

I dose ~1 mL to my tank with a volume of about 300 gallons ) once or twice a week.
