Is 10 ppm TDS ok?

On the lower end, it may go up as it breaks in further since it's still new.

I don't know what the Aquatic Life membrane is, whether it's a Dow or something else I don't know. Typically new membranes will give you 98%+ but anything above 96% is ok.

I use the 99% tested spectrapure's listed below which are rebranded Dow's.

Thanks for all the information. It looks like the membrane is there own brand. If I bought a spectrapure filter, do you think its worth changing 100gpd to 75 gpd? One note, my pressure gauge is showing about 45 psi.

A booster pump would be a better initial investment. Boosted that membrane should get up to at least 98% I imagine it's a DOW but I don't know for sure.

Also if you do change the rating ensure your flow restriction on the brine line (rejected water) matches the membrane size.

With such high tds in the initial water source I would assume it would chew through cartridges and di resin ?
Fwiw . I have set up a older tank from scratch and needed to use municipal water for the initial fill .
Was it right ? Probably not and would have contributed to a longer lasting ugly stage . But I want to assume frequent water changes would “correct “ the higher tds water added .
Now …… I check my rodi water when it starts , and frequently during filtration

if the water isn’t sealed asap you will notice what was once zero rapidly collects everything it can and tds in the freshly made water will increase .

Thanks for all the helpful answers. I will look into booster pumps. If I bought the spectrapure 90gpd ro membrane with 99% rejection, would I need to change my flow restriction? And, how do I know which DI cartridge to go with? :grimacing-face:

I am currently using the same unit you have with the aquatic life booster pump. Def a good purchase. Not quite sure why your not getting 0ppm after Di resin maybe you have the Di resin cartridge installed upside down. It should def give you a 0 ppm reading.
Cost is 129.00 but will make your unit much more efficient

awesome! I just checked my DI cartridge to make sure it wasn't installed upside down and I think I may have found the problem.

When I first installed the DI cartridge I must have seated it wrong and damaged the center gasket. I think its leaking through there. I tested the TDS out of the RO only and it was about 12 ppm. After reseating the DI cartridge its about 8 ppm now.

I just wanted to provide an update. I replaced the DI filter with a new one and it brought my TDS down to 0. Problem was when I seated it the first time and damaged the gasket.
