I was thawing out my frozen cubes today and began to think I go through cubes like they are going out of business. I have 15 fish and feed 4 in the morning and 4 at night.

What does everyone else feeding look like? Is 8 cubes a day normal?

That's a lot of cubes? What fish and how large is your tank. Depending on the fish and tank you could be fine...
1 Lawnmower blenny
1 Bicolor Blenny
2 Anthias
1 Yellow Goby
1 Swallowtail Angel
1 Yellow Tang
2 Chromis
1 Aiptasia file fish
1 Clown
1 Leopard wrasse
1 Christmas wrasse
1 Cardinal
1 Fox face

I’d say they are all minimum 5 years since I owned them at least in a 150 gallon display

3 cubes would be more than enough. I go 1.5 cubes for 12 fish which includes 3 tangs and an Angel.

IDK, I don't feed heavy. My self I would say 4 cubes is plenty daily. But if you don't have over feeding issues, algae, nutrients, water issues, why change your routine. 5 year old fish so you've kept them long enough to show you know what your doing...

I have 13 fish ranging from tangs to wrasses in a 230 gal

I feed 2 cubes frozen every other day .
purple seaweed and either flakes or pellets daily .

I would think 8 cubes per day is a lot .
have you measured nutrients lately ?
Are they measuring high ?

I feed 3 cubes to 18 fish. If you’re not have nutrient issues then it’s probably fine, but I don’t think you’re fish need that much. However if you’re not have nutrient issues then your filtration is taking care of the excess, and if you cut back then you could strip your nitrates and phosphates and create other issues.

Phosphates are 1.8

All SPS are good, great polyp extension.

Thanks for advice Reefers I have skimmer running 8 hours only. fish eat everything so

im going to try cut back to 6 and monitor.

This is great to see where everyone else is especially those who have more fish than me.

In my 120 I have 15 fish and feed 8 cubes but no other food goes into my system. Tanks 27 months old.
6 blue green chromis
2 percula
2 blue eyed anthias
1 pajama cardinal
1 filefish
1 pixi hawk
1 Tomini tang
1 convict tang
No3 runs <5
Po4 <.1 with gfo.
I run an over size skimmer, Tunze 9430dc, and a 7" filter sock.
I am going to bring a algae scrubber online soon to replace the gfo.

Okay man! Tank looks like it’s handling it well. GFO may be helping

I don’t run neither , nor a refugium hence the increase nutrients.

Your SPS look good did you buy those as a frag?

Yes most all were frags. I have removed a few colonies as they were weed like in growth.
A couple mini wild colonies.
Checky build thread for more info.

That just seems crazy. I dont feed frozen often and I only feed about a 2 inch by barely 2 inch chunk of lrs to 12 fish and 5 of them are over 5" and that creates literally a tornado of food all over a 160 gallon tank .

Make your own and save a ton of money, if you wish to and your system can handle that much food make your own.
I spent roughly $30 5 months ago, I bought a bag of muscles, a bag of shrimp and some scallops, I used a Ninja mixer and mini ice cube trays to make the cubes. I still have a months worth in my fish freezer and still have parts of those bags in my freezer.

Yeah it's a little work, but I'd rather the savings in my pocket than someone else's.

@Twoddler asked such the key question
Dose your filtration handle the waste produced?

keep in mind SIZE of fish matters - full size vs baby is very different

your approach to monitor is smart - make sure the slower fish still get enough food

I recently bought some scallops and started feeding that to my trigger. I'm upgrading to a 120g setup and will be starting to make my own food. It's cheaper and I enjoying doing this stuff.
