I was thinking about my coral beauty angel fish....that i love....and LPS that i like

Are there fish toys that would distract the fish and keep them from picking at the coral?

It seems like when i put the algea holder in the tank, they are all busy for a while. Maybe there are other things to keep them busy?

I saw beta toys on the web but i am wondering if people with reefs have thought about this and have favorite fish "toys" to keep them busy?

I never heard of them, invent them yourself and rake in the cash ;Smuggrin

It seems like a very slow release food in something that floats or could be pushed around .....maybe on a string so it wouldn't break acros would work?

Kind of like the treat ball they make for turtles? They would have to roll it around to have food fall out. It would be cool to see the fish in action lol.

Yes, if there was a suction cup on one end of the string and the food ball on the other end, it could be placed in a safe area of the tank and they could chase it around. I think it would be fun.

Interesting idea. I don't know how well it would work with finding something to keep your fish occupied. From my experience it's really a matter of luck of the draw on fish if they will turn into butt-heads or not. Angels as a whole all do seem to have a propensity to nip corals. Will the one you get do this? Only time will tell. The fish may not nip and be a model citizen, or could turn into demon spawn and decimate your corals after 2-3 years. If you like it, get it. Just be ready to trap and remove it if things do not work out. I have had to do this with more than my fair share of fish for various reasons.

Just a lovely part of the hobby. o_O
